SAMPLE TWO-DAY FAMILY ITINERARY
Two Days in Denali with Kids, Sample Plan
This is how many families put it together. Adjust based on your kids' ages and energy levels.
Morning, ATV Side-by-Side Tour
Start with the ATV tour. Kids in the side-by-side. Creek beds, mud splashing, mountain views, and guides who explain the landscape at every stop. Done by midday. Everyone covered in a light layer of tundra dust.
Afternoon, Denali Park Zipline
Back after lunch. Seven lines over the boreal forest canopy. The guides have seen every fear level, they're good at it. Kids almost always outpace the adults by line three.
Evening, Husky Homestead or DogGoneIt
End the day with the dogs if timing allows. The puppy interaction at Husky Homestead tends to produce the best photos of the trip.
Morning, Flightseeing
Book the Glacier Landing for the full experience, you land on the glacier, walk on it, and fly back over the Alaska Range. Weather affects scheduling. If weather cancels, the rafting or national park road work as the morning activity.
Afternoon, Wilderness Wave Rafting
Scenic float through Nenana Canyon. Appropriate for children as young as 5 with a parent. Dry suit and all gear provided. The canyon walls come in close, the river is calm but the scenery is not.
Late afternoon, Savage River Drive
Wind down with a self-drive to mile 15 on the park road. The Savage River area is a reliable wildlife zone. No advance booking required.
Family Logistics
Booking order: Book flightseeing and ATV in advance for peak season, July and August dates fill quickly. Zipline and rafting have more day-of availability but advance booking is still recommended.
Activity timing: ATV and Zipline both run in the morning and afternoon. Most families do one before lunch and one after. The Jeep tour is 5–7 hours, a full day commitment, better suited for families with older kids who can sustain that timeline.
- Under age 5: Husky Homestead, DogGoneIt, Glacier Landing flightseeing (min age 2), ATV as passenger, national park self-drive
- Ages 5–7: All of the above + Wilderness Wave rafting
- Ages 8–12: All of the above + Denali Park Zipline
- Ages 13+: All tours available

Questions Before You Book
Real answers to the questions guests ask most before booking.
What's the youngest age for ATV tours?
Children of any age can ride as passengers in multi-seat side-by-sides. Solo ATV operation requires age 16+.
Is the zipline appropriate for kids who are afraid of heights?
The guides at Denali Park Zipline are experienced with fear of heights in both adults and kids. Many guests who arrive nervous complete all seven lines and say the guides made the difference. A child can choose to stop at any point.
Is the Glacier Landing safe for young children?
The minimum age for the Glacier Landing flightseeing tour (fixed-wing) is 2. Youth pricing applies for ages 2–9 and guests under 100 lbs. The helicopter glacier landing tour also has a minimum age of 2, with a free lap-child rate under age 2. The flight operators follow standard aviation safety requirements.
Which activity do kids enjoy most?
Based on the review corpus: zipline and ATV consistently produce the most enthusiastic family reviews. Sled dog tours, especially Husky Homestead with the puppy interaction, are the standout for families with younger children. Glacier Landing is the most frequently cited “best thing we did” across all age groups when weather cooperates.
