Details

Step onto an ancient glacier deep in the heart of the Alaska Range on this extraordinary helicopter adventure. Your journey begins at a private heliport, and from the moment you lift off, the vastness of Denali National Preserve surrounds you. En route to the massive Yanert Glacier, your pilot guides you through a breathtaking glacially carved landscape. Soar over rolling tundra and keep your eyes open for caribou, moose, bear, and Dall sheep roaming below. Snow capped peaks and glaciers fill the horizon before you touch down on a river of ice for 15 to 20 minutes of glacial exploration and endless photo opportunities.

Please note that seating is arranged based on weight, balance, and safety considerations for each departure. While every effort is made to keep groups together for the flight, groups may occasionally be split between multiple helicopters. All groups will be reunited on the glacier. Flight times may vary depending on weather and glacier conditions. Tour includes approximately 50 minutes of helicopter time and 15 to 20 minutes on the glacier.

Policies

  • Additional Information from Temsco

    Surcharge Policy

Due to weight and balance limitations, as well as guest safety and

comfort, passengers weighing 250 pounds (113kg) or more will be charged an additional $130.00 to reserve adequate space onboard the helicopter. Total weight includes shoes and clothing. Surcharge must be paid at time of booking.

    Baggage Policy

Temsco’s policies prohibit you from taking the following items on our aircraft/tour:

    • bags or cases of any kind
    • iPads or tablets
    • tripods, selfie sticks or other extendible items
    • drones
    • water bottles or liquids.

Temsco will provide you with a secure area at our base where you may leave such items.

No smoking of any kind is allowed for the duration of the tour.

    Passenger Ability/Mobility

All TEMSCO excursions are listed as “MODERATE” activity level for the following reasons:

    • The distance walking from our heli base to the aircraft and the distance from the helicopters to our camp on the glacier. This is approximately 100 feet (30 meters).
    • The sizeable steps that guests must navigate while getting in and out of the aircraft. These steps are approximately 18” in height.
    • The natural surface of the glacier can be uneven and cracked.
    • Due to liability reasons, Temsco employees cannot lift guests in or out of the helicopter. Temsco staff will be there to lend a helping hand, though ultimately guests are responsible for navigating these steps on their own.

    Aircraft Seating

Temsco arranges seating based on the weight, balance, and safety of the whole departure, and cannot guarantee that groups sit together on the aircraft. Please note that Temsco will do everything possible to keep groups together for the flight portion of the tour, but we are sometimes required to split a group between multiple helicopters. All groups will be together for the glacier portion of the tour.

    Attire

It is very hard to predict the weather on a glacier. Expect at least 10 degrees cooler on the glacier than in town, with heavy winds. Dress in warm layers – hats, gloves and sunglasses are highly recommended. And don’t forget a raincoat! We will provide the guests with over-boots for walking on the glacier, other clothing is not provided by Temsco.

  • Weather Policy

The best time to book your tour is whatever time works best for you. There is no time of day that is consistently better than the other in terms of weather. Weather in Alaska is ever changing and predicting the weather from month to month is nearly impossible.

  • Cancellation Policy

If you choose to cancel prior to the departure, there is a 10% cancellation fee up until 48 hours prior to the excursion. If you cancel within 48 hours, the tour becomes non-refundable. If Temsco needs to cancel due to weather or any unforeseen circumstance, you’ll receive a 100% refund.

  • Child Policy

A child does not need their own seat if they are under 24 months old on the day that they take the tour. These children are considered a lap child and are free of charge. A parent or guardian is responsible for holding the child securely for the entire tour. Any child 24 months of age or older is required to have their own seat per FAA regulations and therefore will require a full fare ticket for our tour.
