Details

Sled dogs, captivating the imagination of the world like no other Alaskan feature. There is something undeniably magnetic about these remarkable animals: their boundless energy, their deep bond with their musher, and their instinctive drive to run. For thousands of years, sled dogs have been woven into the fabric of Alaska's story, serving as lifelines across frozen tundra, carrying supplies through impossible terrain, and forging partnerships with humans that no machine has ever replicated.

Today, that legacy lives on, and at Husky Homestead, you get to experience it firsthand. These are not just dogs; they are athletes, adventurers, and companions shaped by generations of life in Alaska's wild Interior. Watching them in action, hearing their excitement before a run, and seeing the connection between dog and driver is the kind of moment that stays with you long after you've left the trail behind.

We absolutely loved our visit

We absolutely loved our visit to the Husky Homestead.  We began our visit by holding adorable husky puppies. Then we were able to see some of the dogs in action. I learned so much about the dogs and the sport of mushing.  Melanie was terrific and very knowledgeable.  Jeff King joined us at the end of our visit and answered questions as well as told stories about living in Alaska and running the Iditarod. I would highly recommend this place!!
